more records for a pair of Bulldogs

The recent decision by the Sydney Cricket Association to retrospectively include T20 performances in player’s first grade records has seen Phil Wells and Daniel Solway enter the record books of that organisation.

Phil Wells is now the joint record holder with Grant Lambert for the most runs scored in a season, both having totalled 1527 with averages in excess of 100. Grant’s stellar year was 2006/07

When he passed 1000 runs for the season on 1st March, Daniel Solway became the youngest player to score 1000 first grade runs in a season. At that time he was 19 years and 317 days replacing former Test player Peter Toohey who was 19 years and 323 days when he reached 1000 in the 1973/74 season.

Congratulations to both Phil and Daniel for these achievements which will take an awful lot of beating.

Performances in the 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons are already included our player records as the T20 competition was a part of the Belvedere Cup in those seasons. Performances for the 2008/09, 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons will be added to player records in the 2015/16 annual report.
