Bankstown WINS Green Shield FINAL
and Schippy wins Man of Match with a stunning 7 for 10 off 12 overs

The Bankstown Sports Bulldogs clinched the premiership with a resounding win in the final against the Sutherland Sharks. Bankstown had gone through the competition undefeated with  very decisive wins. The same happened on Monday 27th with the Sharks bundled out for a paltry 110. In reply, Bankstown had a momentary hiccup but eventually came out convincing winners to take the prestigious A.W. Green Shield. Kyle Chisholm made the initial breakthrough as usual and is a most promising speedster. Alex Schipp stunned the Sharks with a magnificent spell of swing bowling. The lively speedster claimed a remarkable 7-10 from 12 match-winning overs. Schipp moved the ball around all over the place as batsmen struggled to get the ball off the square. It was a case of  Schipp sinking the Sharks. Ever-reliable spinner David Lozinski chimed in with two wickets to complete the demolition job. Prolific run-scorer Ben Le Bas once again got a start with a punishing 26, but the Sharks fought back with quick wickets. Daniel Hayes grabbed the initiative and his sparkling 43 got the Bulldogs barking again. Bankstown finished with 5-111 and a very well-deserved title. Skipper Brendan Smith has been a prolific run-getter in Grade and Green Shield in recent weeks. His captaincy was superb as he led the side with the aplomb of a veteran. Hard-hitting Bailey Dickinson is certain to rocket through the grades whilst Niran Wijawardene is an athletic all-rounder with plenty of talent. Connor Wilkinson is a fine young strokemaker whilst Kayne Grove is a classy cricketer. Tom Sowden is a quality wrist spinner who gives the ball a real tweak. Wicketkeeper Steele Brown is a hard taskmaster who kept the fieldsmen on their toes. His acrobatics behind the stumps were very much appreciated by the bowlers. Mark Condron was a very proud manager and his professionalism was appreciated by all. Coach Ray Hall is a humble man who has the unique ability to get the most out of the team. No side in the competition fielded as well as the Bulldogs and their running between wickets was exemplary, All those hours spent on various drills certainly paid dividends. It was Bankstown’s 14th Green Shield title and it means the future of the Bulldogs is very secure indeed.
